Ok, seven random things, here we go-
1. I'm more into clothes and shopping since I moved to Seattle and got annoyed with all the preppy-looking people there. It may have been grunge everywhere else, but on Queen Anne Hill it was preppy. I tried to stand out by finding interesting things to wear.
2. I love ketchup.
3. My thumbs are double-jointed.
4. I have a scar over my eyebrow that is very noticeable but people don't generally notice when they look at me to talk to me. It's from pretending to be a ghost when I was three or so, and stepping on the edge of the blanket, falling, and cracking my head on the corner of the brick fireplace. my mom says all I said when they were stitching me up was "down? down?"
5. I grew up in a historic house in Centerville in my early years. Boy Scout groups used to come read the plaq attached to the corner of the house, and we'd make faces at them through the window.
6. My car is called "The Muffin Car" by some of my friends.
and
7. There are photos of me in the LDS Family Home Evening handbook from the early eighties. my mom was friends with one of the photographers and they used us kids as models to illustrate the stories. In one I'm doing dishes with my sister at the sink in our old house.
- thanks Hyo, that was kinda fun!!

Bliss
you know, sometimes things align and there's suddenly, out of nowhere, bliss. this morning, seeing the glowing yellow leaves surrounding the house in a carpet, being inside, holding a fried egg on wheat toast sandwich and italian amaretto hot chocolate, is somehow blissful. these moments are everywhere. what a blessing. I can't get over it.

A trip to the Mountains
Dennis is briefly a man of leisure now sometimes, as am I (woman of leisure), so we decided to go to the mountains today to document some of the beautifulness. Lots of the trees had already lost their leaves, but it smelled wonderful and felt so different from being in the city, it was just a really good idea. Before we got out to take photos, we hit the snow and kept going up up up. Here it is, in October, snow-
here's Dennis-

I'm 'Photographer of Light'. Dennis was more 'Photographer of Color'. But we both earned titles.

Here's my dynamic waterfall picture-

catch up
I took some photos with my new phone, and they are having a problem loading, but I managed two here. These are centerville fall leaves. I took a video of them and me, who knows if I'll ever figure out how to post that, but I'll take more photos of the leaves for those who are away. This one is huge if you click on it! Well, failure. My job ended today due to overexhertion of the back (mine). The cleaning and moving kennels etc. was too much, because I'm .. old.
But, I'm sure there will be another forray into getting a part-time job, maybe not until after I go to Boston in january to look for a publisher, but possibly sooner! My guess is some kind of desk job, inertia seems to suit my back just fine.

I have good news!
the Yuppie Puppie called me back, I'm going in for a 'working interview' on wednesday morning. why a 'working interview'? apparently people don't realize what they're getting themselves into when they sign on to watch over a small store full of cats and dogs and cages and possibly mice. so, they have you come in and try it out for three hours to see if you'll like all that chaos of the animal world. I'm thinking of it as a challenge. sure I've helped innovate drafting procedures for a huge engineering firm, but can I take care of twelve kittens and a big dog with a squishy toy? I view it as research for future children's books, a way to stay in the black (or is it the red that's good?) financially while I finish up the first book, and as a way to take care of something. I've never been much of a babysitter, maybe this will be a good step towards learning about motherhood. of cats and dogs and random mice...
hm.
